Rhythm & Mind

Lovelies,

A few weeks in California of compounding obligations and 80% of people I love randomly in town at the same time left me deep fried. I've retreated to Maine once again for a hot minute.

Here the volume has turned down. And now gradually the more secret rhythms reveal themselves like stars.

I'm learning what I can ask of myself at different times. Early morning is good for big picture thinking. There seems to be a high noon of creating. The afternoon strikes and I've got NOTHING but I can edit, edit, and attune to other's work with the best of them. Oh and circumstance has led me to a new ritual of stepping outside at midnight. What can I say but the ocean has a different low rumble than Highway 24.

I'm working primarily on a writing project. As you all know, I'm a SONGWRITER. Meaning the furthest I generally see ahead of me is 3.5 minutes. A WRITING writing project means I'm attempting to grok a panorama of miles and miles. I'm clearing a savanna in my brambly mind.

But I also continue to write songs. And the short bursts that are songs are more welcome than ever. The passing moods of them. The blink and you'll miss them perspectives. I wrote something sexy for another artist. Fun! Then the next day I wrote something reflective... but yeah also a LITTLE sexy... for myself. Also fun!

Are you enjoying Spring? If so, tell me about it because last week it snowed on my head.

Sending you all my love near and far.

Rachel
